Transcendental Meditation
Practicing Transcendental Meditation is an integral part of the program. Each student will be required to participate in group meditation and TM retreats during the Semester in Hawaii. We provide space and time during the day to practice your meditation regularly. A TM teacher will be available for program students.
Accommodations
We are situated at Kohala Institute, which is a nonprofit managing 2,400 acres of land in North Kohala managed by Kohala Institute which consists of one of the island's few remaining intact ahupua’a, called 'Iole, and the Bond Historic District— which includes the Bond Homestead, Kohala Girls' School, and Kalahikiola Church. An ahupua‘a is a traditional Hawaiian division of land that conserves the natural resources available to maintain sustainable levels of resource use; there were some 1,625 ahupua‘a in ancient Hawai‘i.
Rooms
Currently we are offering dorm room style accommodations, with the option to upgrade for single or double rooms. Students will live in the newly renovated GRACE Center at Kohala Institute at 'Iole, in Kapa'au, Hawaii.
Food
We are providing local, organic, vegetarian meals for lunch and dinner, as well as the means to make a healthy breakfast and snacks.
Camping
Exciting adventure camping trips will facilitate exposure to the wealth of guest speakers around the island. As such, we will be camping as a group. While the program provides some basic camping gear, please consult with our Trip Checklist on our Program Preparation Page.
